Vitamin C Serum | Dark Spots & Brightening | Ferulic Acid

£34.99

High-strength Vitamin C serums at 15–20% work — but they're also responsible for most Vitamin C complaints: tingling, breakouts, oxidation-triggered sensitivity and a formula that turns orange within weeks of opening. This Vitamin C Serum uses 2% Ethyl Ascorbic Acid with Ferulic Acid — a more stable, more skin-friendly form of Vitamin C that brightens dark spots, evens skin tone and builds antioxidant defence without any of the irritation problems. The smart choice for sensitive skin that still wants results. 30g / 160g / 1.06 oz — dropper bottle.

  • 2% Ethyl Ascorbic Acid — a highly stable Vitamin C derivative that doesn't oxidise the way pure L-Ascorbic Acid does; penetrates skin without requiring a low pH, making it effective without the irritation that comes with traditional high-strength serums
  • Ferulic Acid — plant-derived antioxidant that stabilises Vitamin C in the formula and significantly enhances its brightening effect; a proven pairing found in professional skincare formulations
  • Zero irritation — no tingling, no redness on first use; transitions into the routine without a skin adjustment period
  • Gradually fades dark spots — helps reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, post-blemish marks and uneven tone over consistent use
  • Morning and evening use — unlike pure L-Ascorbic Acid formulas, this doesn't require sun avoidance, making it suitable for morning and evening application
  • Suitable for all skin types including sensitive, reactive and combination skin
  • Step 1: Apply 3–5 drops to clean skin after cleansing — before heavier serums and moisturiser
  • Step 2: Press gently into the face and neck; avoid the eye area
  • Step 3: Follow with moisturiser and SPF in the morning
  • Frequency: Use morning and/or evening daily for consistent brightening results

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use Ethyl Ascorbic Acid instead of regular Vitamin C?
Pure L-Ascorbic Acid (the most researched form of Vitamin C) requires a very low pH to be effective — which is exactly what causes the tingling and sensitivity that many people experience. It also oxidises quickly after opening, turning the product orange and losing its potency. Ethyl Ascorbic Acid works at a skin-neutral pH, penetrates efficiently without needing the low-pH environment, is highly stable in the bottle, and causes none of the irritation. The trade-off is that the concentration (2%) appears lower than a 15% L-Ascorbic formula — but the delivery is more efficient and the skin tolerates it far better.
Can I use it morning and evening?
Yes — unlike pure L-Ascorbic Acid, Ethyl Ascorbic Acid does not cause photosensitivity, so there is no restriction on morning use. Always follow with SPF in the morning regardless of which Vitamin C form you use — this is a good skincare habit that Vitamin C amplifies rather than creates. Evening use works well alongside other actives.
How long until dark spots fade?
The antioxidant glow effect is visible from the first week. For existing dark spots and post-blemish marks: visible lightening typically begins at weeks 4–6 with daily use. Clear improvement in overall tone evenness and pigmentation is visible at weeks 8–12. Deeper pigmentation (hormonal, sun damage) takes longer — 3–6 months of consistent daily use. Combining this serum with SPF 30+ every morning significantly speeds up the process by stopping new pigmentation forming.
Can I use it alongside retinol or AHAs?
Yes — Vitamin C and retinol are often used as a pair (Vitamin C in the morning, retinol at night) to get antioxidant protection during the day and cell turnover overnight. With AHAs, apply the Vitamin C serum first (thinnest texture goes first), then your AHA toner or treatment. Avoid layering multiple actives directly on top of each other on the same application — give each one a minute to absorb before the next.
