A regular face brush is designed for cleansing — it agitates the skin surface to remove product and dead cells. This brush is designed for lymphatic drainage massage, which means the technique is the opposite: very light, directional strokes that move fluid through the lymphatic vessels rather than scrubbing the skin. The bristles are ultra-fine rather than cleansing-grade, and the handle is shaped for the specific sweeping movements the technique requires. Do not use it for cleansing — the fibres are not designed for that purpose.

Yes — the direction and pressure matter. Lymphatic drainage works by moving fluid toward the lymph nodes, which sit at the ears, jaw angle, and collarbone. Always stroke outward from the centre of the face toward the ears, and then downward from the ear toward the collarbone. Never use firm pressure — the lymphatic vessels sit just below the skin surface and respond to the lightest touch. Pressing harder does not improve results.

Any facial oil or lightweight serum works well as a slip product. Avoid thick creams or balms — the brush needs to glide freely and heavy products create too much resistance. Rosehip oil, squalane, vitamin C serum and hyaluronic acid serums all work particularly well. Apply generously enough that there is no drag at all when you move the brush across the skin.

After each use, rinse the bristles under lukewarm running water to remove any oil or serum residue. Once a week, work a drop of gentle shampoo through the bristles, rinse thoroughly, reshape and lay flat to dry. Do not soak the wooden handle in water — prolonged moisture exposure can cause the wood to crack or swell over time. Store in the included protective case to keep bristles in shape between uses.
